The Crew Academy Imagine Your Future introduction to barbering is a VTCT Level 2 accredited course and recognised worldwide.
This is the equivalent to the Level 4 NFQ award. All full-time courses include SIX WEEKS WORK EXPERIENCE in one of our Crew Barber Class for Men shops which could lead to possible employment. It is a beginners’ course for participants of all ages who would like to enter the barbering industry.
Government grants are available from your local employment office/solas for eligible candidates.

At Crew Barber we believe in sharing our passion and are delighted to announce the opening of Crew Academy.

Here students will learn and become masters in the art & science of Barbering & Hairdressing. During their beginners training they will also learn client relations skills which is vital when it comes to understanding what your clients visions and expectations are.

By the end of the course all students will be industry ready to continue on their dream career path in the exciting world of barbering and hairdressing.

Level 2 VTCT Course Provides the Following Units

1. Health and Safety in the workplace
The aim of this unit is to increase your understanding of health and safety and its importance in the salon in which you work. You will develop the ability to carry out a simple risk analysis, recognise a hazard and how to deal with the hazard responsibly.You will have the ability to set up and follow safe and hygienic working practices.You will also develop the ability to locate fire fighting equipment, first aid resources and have an awareness of fire, emergency and evacuation procedures.
2. Client Consultation
Throughout this unit you will develop the ability to provide an effective consultation and advisory service for your clients. Being able to identify the capability of your client’s hair will allow you to make recommendations based on questioning, observation and test results. You will develop the ability to shampoo hair correctly and to provide correct customer care for clients.

You will learn how to deal with influencing factors like the clients previous history of their hair, contra indications, skin and scalp disorders, their lifestyle, and commitment to the service and cost involved, which will all impact on the service you suggest.

3. Cut Facial Hair
Throughout this unit you will learn how to create a variety of different looks for men using a variety of different techniques such as clippers over comb, scissors over comb, freehand and contouring.

Using these cutting techniques you will be able to demonstrate that you can produce a variety of beard and moustache looks to suit your clients.
You will demonstrate working on curly and straight hair taking into consideration all influencing factors.

4. Cut Men’s Hair
Throughout this unit you will learn how to create a variety of different looks for men using a scissors, thinning scissors, detailer, clippers and attachments, club cutting, texturizing, tapering, blending, scissors over comb, clippers over comb, freehand styling and finishing, different products for recommendation to clients and advice on aftercare.

Using these cutting techniques you will demonstrate that you can produce a variety of graduated and uniform layered haircuts, with or without fringes and partings.

You will also demonstrate that you can work on both curly and straight hair. Part of this service is to provide your client with great aftercare service.

We are very centrally located on Railway Street, Navan,Co.Meath which means that it’s easier to get models here than in most places. We have a very good reputation for the standard of haircuts our Students provide at no cost.

Cost: is €2500 with a €400 discount for early booking.
Equipment worth €300 provided and VTCT level 2 Certificate bringing all students to the level of junior barber.

In the interests of our students, maximum attendees per class is 8. This will ensure each student is allocated the time and attention needed to graduate within The Academy.

The Crew Academy Imagine Your Future VTCT level 3 is equivalent to level 5 NFQ in the national framework

This course is for candidates in the barbering and hairdressing industry who want to build on their already existing knowledge. You will learn the following:

Learn a variety of cuts and styles, which will bring you to full qualification.
Master the art of blending, texturising, tapering, working with cut throat blade, finishing and styling.
Learn the art of Hot Towel Shaves, and how to complete with confidence the service that your client requires.
